Waiting for Dawn

(Inspired by an unrecorded tune written by Damh)

I stand all alone by the endless sea
Alone again by the endless sea
The moon shines down on the restless waves
makes a path to my restless feet
and I wish that could trend that path

In heavens the stars laugh down at me
From the heavens they laugh at me
and I wish had wings to fly with them
with the gulls I would fly away
over the restless seas

But the sun will rise at dawn again
for another day to dawn it will rise again
and I have known this feeling before

many years have I stood on this restless shore
another year I will stand on this lonely shore
and the moon will make her path for me
the stars will laugh at me
and the sun will rise at dawn

One day I will walk her path
one day my wings will help me soar
and the gulls will sing with me
and the sun will rise once morefor another day to dawn.
