Breath of Life

(Cerri Lee)

Breath of life
Kiss me gently, wake me to the world
From the womb of the Mother I am driven
Out into the world of reason
Hard you are in my chest, my first breath
Sharp you are and cold to the touch
I am expeled from an etherial realm
Exposed in an instant
To all the knowledge of this world
In a single breath.
My cry echoes and joins the multitude
